MISSION of the BACKCSC

The purpose of the club is:
-- to ensure ongoing public benefit from the purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs through the promotion of responsible ownership, sound husbandry, handling, and sportsmanship principles;
 -- to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Cavaliers and doing all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection; and
-- to do all in the club's power to protect and advance the interests of purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs.

BACKGROUND of the BACKCSC
Bay Area Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club (BACKCSC) held its first meeting in March, 1995--shortly after the American Kennel Club recognized the breed. In 1995 and 1996, the BACKCSC helped the American Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club (the AKC parent club for Cavaliers) hold matches and judges' seminars. These events helped lead to the approval of the ACKCSC as an AKC licensed show-giving club. Then, in 2002, the BACKCSC successfully achieved its own licensed status with the AKC.

INTRODUCTION to the BACKCSC
Since 1995, the BACKCSC has grown to over 80 members, including pet owners, breeders, and exhibitors in both conformation and obedience. We hold 8 General Meetings a year followed by a presentation geared toward all aspects of life with a Cavalier including general care, training, health issues, showing, and breeding. Members' camaraderie is also important! Many of our meetings are held at dog-friendly sites, so well-behaved Cavaliers are able to attend.
In addition to regular meetings, annually we hold a Fun Day and a Regional Specialty Show. A list of the year's planned activities is on the Events page. For further information, contact any of the officers or board members listed on the Contacts page. BACKCSC membership information can be found on our Membership page.
